4/5 ★ – jordybgood's review of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.

Out of all the games to release in this ridiculous year, Crash 4 came out to be a nice surprise. I didn’t think this game would be BAD necessarily but with the talk of micro transactions and just the fact that it came out so close to the trilogy remake, I thought it would be a lot messier or mostly bland. I was shocked to see, this game is REALLY fun. For basically taking the concept of the original trilogy and expanding on it with new settings, more levels, and even MORE characters, it still feels like a breath of fresh air! The platform ing improves upon its predecessors with a variety of level design like moving platforms, rail sliding, mask powers etc. There’s some nice new features but I personally loved the difficulty control the most. I’m just awful at these games and found my health to always be at risk playing the trilogy remake from dying so much and not having enough lives lmao. Thankfully in Crash 4 they allow you to set the death count to be unlimited, and will only count against your total score if you’re trying to go for the side objectives. Despite this the game pushes you the further you get into it, and I found myself spending HOURS on the last 10 levels or so just because I kept dying THAT much. Not to say this game is insanely difficult, but it does provide a good challenge at times. Crash 4 is an addicting and charming sequel that lives up to its original predecessors and breaks new ground for potentially continuing the series, which I’m not gonna lie, I’m totally down if Toys for Bob wanted to make their own trilogy out of this. If you’re looking for a new game to buy until the bigger releases later in November, I would totally get Crash 4!
