3/5 ★ – jordybgood's review of Star Wars: Squadrons.

Star Wars Squadrons is a mixed bag. There’s a lot to love here, but it also lacks that oomph in a few places. I had a decent time with Jedi Fallen Order last year and definitely think EA is finally putting out some worthy Star Wars content, and while this is a good addition there’s still a lot to be desired. The story is pretty forgettable and short, and the variety of missions don’t really live up to the technical immersion that this game does so well. It probably would’ve gotten brownie points from me if they had at least included movie based missions like in the original Rogue Squadron games. The best way to experience this game is on VR, and if you got a good controller set up, even better. Overall I had a decent time, it’s a cool little time passer, and has potential to be great especially if you use a VR set up, but I’m still waiting for that perfect simulator that we can really feel like we’re flying an X-Wing and taking on the Death Star. It’s close, especially if you have a VR headset, but I don’t think this is the one yet. It is priced at 40 dollars so I think it gets a higher review from me considering EA isn’t being so greedy this time around, but if you can wait, I would wait for it to drop then pick it up.
