4/5 ★ – kubachowicki_'s review of Assassin's Creed: Unity - Dead Kings.
Dead Kings is the free story DLC for Assassin's Creed: Unity, labelled in-game as Sequence 13. The story is pretty good, although not as good as I remember it being when I played it when I was younger. By far the best part about it is the location, Franciade, and its dark, gloomy and unsettling atmosphere. It technically contains two maps, an overground and an underground one, which is really fascinating in regards to exploration and also its link to history.
The side content is just a re-skin of the main game, which you can not exactly fault them for it as after all, it is a very small and free expansion. There is a great amount of new content, too, from gear to weapons, including a DLC exclusive weapon type, the guillotine gun which combines a hard-hitting melee attack similar to that of a regular heavy weapon, with a new mortar bomb area of effect damage explosive. The gear is not particularly useful, though, as the story chronologically takes place after the game's main story, so it would make no sense to play it before the story is finished, and by that time, you will most likely already have gear which is much stronger, making the DLC gear quite redundant, unless you do not mind downgrading your gear for whatever reason. As for the weapons, though, other than the guillotine guns, it does provide us with the best weapon in the game, the Eagle of Suger, which has identical stats to the other three gold five diamond one-handed weapons, but with an additional perk that is exclusive only to that weapon. The additional outfits are quite cool, too!
Overall, Dead Kings is a very fun and worthwhile DLC to Assassin's Creed: Unity.
