Overall, Harmonix makes killer music games. This is the closest I will ever feel like a DJ and I certainly had fun playing it. But moving to the Gripe Zone:
- Gating so much music behind the XP currency is absurd. You'd have to grind for... 30 hours to unlock all the music on the disc? Just let me have fun with the music. Unlocking it isnt fun. Playing with the music is.
- Monetization is straight out of Rock Band 3 and it feels dated and overpriced. $2 per song (especially when it isn't even a song, its clips). In Rock Band 3, each song purchased brings more content, effectively new levels to play. A new song here just adds another piece to the puzzle. It doesnt seem fair. Compare to Just Dance Unlimited at 25$ per year (not to mention Spotify...) and i really just felt the cost was a pain. I could go on, but suffice to say i think the pricing is wack.
- level design felt like it spent too much time in tutorial mode and not enough time letting you experiment
Still, i expect the hobby grade fans will have tons to love (like they do for Rock Band). Im just looking for a fun music game. This was it, but i was still kinda disappointed.
