2.5/5 ★ – loona's review of Cupid Parasite.

haven’t completed allen’s or the 6th route yet (mostly skipping through allen’s), review is for the other 4 routes it’s an otome game so my expectations for the writing were low (not necessarily even a bad thing, i don’t necessarily want my fanservice-y dating sim to be a complex arthouse masterpiece), but even this stretched mu suspension of disbelief. this one is over the top in nearly every way: brightly saturated cg’s, chic and maxinalist ui, rockabilly soundtrack, and most importantly in the main characters. i found them to be fine, and, for what the story’s going for, reasonably dense, but every time the mythology aspect comes into play, the story just loses me. completely. it feels like slop made for children when this is a game with some very adult themes and it actually pisses me off lol it’s not an otome game review without stating your favorites—my favorite character was gill from the start, and he still is (i tend to be biased towards characters who know the protagonists prior to the beginnings of the story), but he probably has one of the weakest routes story-wise, littered with forced conflicts and miscommunication. i thought ryuki’s was very bland and boring, without much to make it stand out from the others. i liked raul’s route a lot aside from a really awkward opener and that weird plot twist, but i think shelby has the most solid plot overall (silly, since he was the first route i did). anyway. just an okay way to pass the time — and that’s what it was to me; i never found myself actively reaching for the game, but just something for the hours to go by. that was it. since i basically went through every character i wanted to know more about, i don’t see myself finishing the last two routes (i don’t vibe with allen at all, and he’s super creepy), but we’ll see. might just skip through.
