5/5 ★ – mattbrookbank's review of Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a work of art, much like the artwork of 16th-century Dutch painter Hieronymous Bosch whose work inspired the art direction of the game. I'm happy I spent 102 hours with this story about coming together to overcome differences, sticking to a set of morals and following your ideas to try and make the world a better place.
It's fitting that the incredible music is sung in the invented language Esperanto, a language designed to bring the world together (even if it may not have succeeded in that).
The calendar system, battle system, job system, social link system, it's all right up my alley. Add to that the deep and unique world. Metaphor gave me a feeling I had not experienced since Mass Effect of being in a fully realized fantasy world with so many new unique races and cultures to learn about.
It's an incredible game and I'd recommend everyone who has the time, isn't scared of a little turn based combat, and loves rich unique worlds to explore.
