4.5/5 ★ – mgongames's review of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was my most anticipated game of the year, and it has exceeded my wildest expectations. I don't want to spoil anything, but it includes one of the coolest things I've ever done in a video game. Eidos Montreal truly outdid themselves. They proved the haters wrong and delivered one of the most polished and satisfying gaming experiences in recent memory. We had some reason to doubt after Square's Avengers disappointment, but to me, Guardians looked incredible from the start. I don't know why so many of you were so sceptical. Ultimately, Guardians of the Galaxy is a strong reminder not to judge a game by its publisher or make up your mind about it before release. Art should always be judged by its own merit. I'm so thankful that I had the chance to play Guardians. My life has had a lot of ups and downs these past few months, but this game is such a refreshing escape. It's a blast that's filled with hilarious and surprisingly emotional moments. The writing and world building are super impressive. It can't change the fact that life can suck, but it's a great reminder that I'm strong enough to face my problems head on. The themes of family, loss, acceptance, and commitment are exactly what I need right now.
