3.5/5 ★ – mosdepo's review of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
A fun, but underwhelming entry into the AC saga... The gameplay and combat were enjoyable and engaging, but too janky and clunky and a downgrade from AC Odyssey which had the best combat in any AC game imo. The story started strong with great characters and a gorgeous world to explore, but it dragged in the middle and towards the end a bit too much. It could've been 20-30 hours shorter honestly, and the ending was too abrupt and not as satisfying as I'd hoped, but I enjoyed it overall as it answered long awaited questions from the previous games. My favorite part of the whole game was the Asgard and Jotunheim side storyline, which had a refreshingly imaginative world and characters that made me wish the whole game was set in that world. All in all, the story is heading into an intriguing new direction and that's something to be excited about!
