4/5 ★ – mrbones's review of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
After 7 years (but only 14 days in 1403 Bohemia) we are finally ready to help Henry get his sword back. Jesus Christ be praised!
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (KCD2), is a magnum opus for Warhorse Studios; bigger, better and a lot less buggy. It’s one of the most cinematic and beautiful games I have ever played and it ties a perfect knot on the epic saga of the world’s most lovable clutz, Henry of Skallitz. The writing, acting and humor is also spot on.
Regrettably, Warhorse Studios still yanks our pizzle, by forcing overtuned difficulty on the player. The later missions will feel quite unfair with game-over-screens, because your horse is not fast enough, you suck with a bow or you didn’t opt for swords.
Siege battles also feel sloppy and messy, when you are constantly being clobbered by 12 soldiers on narrow castle walls and you simple cannot find the precise pixel to tip a ladder. These section really show how frustratingly janky the controls (still) are on console.
However, these hiccups can’t detract from the fact, that this is a fantastic game
