4.5/5 ★ – nalbis's review of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
formally one of the most fascinating video games i've ever played. working as this kind of pop culture artifact of the time, a gargantuan technological leap between the PS1 and PS2, whilst simultaneously being this subversive anti-sequel, as well as a sort of prophetic piece of digital media coinciding with events in 2001 that would ignite the exact world and realised anxieties the game itself envisioned — much like kojima would eventually repeat with DEATH STRANDING prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
far too late to have anything new to say, but i'm playing this in MGS2's world now. all around me are fascist echo-chambers and a violent misinformation-disease. i'm having an identity crisis now, but i love art, music, and movies. i think solid snake's words could save our world.
