3.5/5 ★ – nicestreetsabove's review of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.
I had to play this on my own, because it's 2020 and, like, obviously, but I could imagine this being a raucous time with a group of cash-flush friends (which I of course didn't really have) in 2003. As a single player game, this is still a lot of fun: obviously a little aesthetically deficient, but mechanically satisfying, and the discrete level structure makes for a really manageable and very entertaining structure.
One element that should have hit the bricks is the Force Gems mechanic, especially in single player: getting to the end of the level but not having quite enough Force Gems to continue is just a kick in the teeth, and is a massive blemish on an otherwise fine game.
Not nearly up to the level of ambition or interest as the main series, but this is a fun little time if you're looking for a very arcade-y Zelda experience.
