3.5/5 ★ – Wiwa's review of Radiolight.

TOTAL WEIGHTED SCORE: 70% How's the vibe? 6/10 How's it play? 7/10 How's it look? 7/10 How's it sound? 8/10 Attention to detail? 7/10 - Radiolight clearly takes inspiration from games like Firewatch, and makes some great choices as far as design goes, but tangles itself in a silly plot that overexplains itself with cheesy exposition. I like a lot about this game - it doesn't tell you too much what to do, and lets you uncover its mysteries (mostly) for yourself rather than giving you a bunch of hints and objectives. While the visuals are fairly primitive, especially the character models, the game has a pretty good style, and creates a tense mood throughout. The communication through walkie talkie is nice, obviously reminds of Firewatch, but unfortunately doesn't enable the same type of story that was told there. Where a game like Firewatch is a mystery that's actually about the protagonist facing up to something personal, Radiolight hints towards an ambiguous, interesting storyline and then... fuckin ruins it by just having all the characters explain what's happening, and it literally was happening, and there's no subtext, sorry! It's a lot of potential ultimately squandered by rather poor writing.
