5/5 ★ – ohmightyqueen's review of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Play time: 29.4 hours Sitting here after watching the credits I feel empty having finished this game. It has over taken my life for a full week. I’ve been able to think of nothing else, only about how it’s made me feel with its mystery and story and wonderful visuals. The music is phenomenal, I can’t believe such emotion comes from so many songs throughout the entire experience. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is probably, and will forever hold the title, for being the most beautiful game I’ve ever played. There were times I literally just sat in awe of what I was seeing, just happy to stay there glued to the screen and take it all in. That coupled with the magnificent music and story makes this one of the most unique and amazing experiences I’ve had with a video game. Every actors performance was impeccable. There wasn’t a character I didn’t end up liking or love using during battles. Their uniqueness was very satisfying to play around with. It’s not all perfect however, the tutorial for the gameplay mechanics did feel somewhat lacking but a few YouTube videos (and help from my fiancé) put me straight and I started to enjoy it more after the first few confusing hours. I’m happy it was experience-able through its ‘Story’ mode as the battles could be very hard at times. The enemies moves in some parts truly felt unpredictable so I felt like I was flailing about the place trying to parry or dodge but story mode made those hits bearable.
