4.5/5 ★ – omegaoxide's review of Borderlands 3.

Borderlands 3 - 9/10 A flawed return The Changes: Guns are massively overhauled with many brands sporting an alt fire mode. My favorite of all is Malawian getting two elements that you can swap between on every weapon allowing elements to be on more gun types without outright overshadowing the brand. Characters are broken beyond belief with each getting a fourth tree with the second dlc pass. Following suit with the presequel all of the characters now respond to story events, quests, and in other areas of the game giving them way more personality than ever before. You can now fast travel from anywhere, no more walking back to a station to do so. Gameplay: The highlight of the new engine changes. Guns feel fantastic and so many feel like they are worth chasing. The guns, grenades, and shields all are important to match with your build, especially with how amazing the skill trees now are being even more filled out than the dlc characters from two or even the presequel. Unfortunately the early game content is abysmal in the game being an absolute walk in the park, none of the character building even matters til about mayhem level 5. Repeat playthroughs are a pain due to the lack of difficulty to make the combat any fun and you have to deal with the worst story they have ever written. Progression: Same as previous titles but now there are different planets to try and spice up the battle with new enemies on different planets (too bad it’s only psychos and Malawian). Skill trees are legendary in this game and nearly everything will work for players through their first playthrough, plus with fast travel from anywhere you can respec on the fly. Difficulty: Blind fold youself and maybe submerge yourself in a pool only coming up for air every air just so you can give the enemies a chance to not be instantly splattered across whatever planet you’re on. Seriously this game is a joke of a title when it comes to difficulty just get to new game plus and use mayhem levels to make the game actually fun. Level Design: Same as previous games, no fun movement like presequel. It’s perfectly passible and nothing to write home about. Atmosphere: Looks like rainbow unicorn barf and this isn’t even Tiny Tina’s wonderland. It’s vibrant especially with all the different planets but it tries its best to have the cel shaded artstyle as before just far less gritty going further from the original vision set in the first game. Story: Siren twins got all the psychos to join together forming a cult called the children of the vault. They are influencers that have really bad jokes and they make you want to mute all voices in the game just listening to them for one millisecond. (Personal Summary) Best Parts: The gameplay is the only really good part that makes everything worthwhile even the bad main campaign. I can tel you how many hours I put into this game just because it is so much fun almost being better than 2. Worst Parts: The story and the npcs are unbearable they can’t write anything funny even if they had the god of jokes come into the studio. I vomit thinking about what they could be working on next in that writing department after making this and tales from the borderlands 2. Final Thoughts: If you can’t stand how dated the other games were this would be your best starting point, I just must warn you how miserable the story will make you feel it’s passible up until the halfway point then it’s slop. The gameplay is stellar and moze is one of the greatest vault hunters ever. I like this game a lot just wish they truly outdid the masterpiece that was borderlands 2. - 9/10 make the voice actors stop making poop jokes please
