4/5 ★ – pali's review of Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure.
This is one of the 2D point and click games with the highest production value that I have ever played. All the animations look so smooth and movements like picking something up, giving something, using something are really animated instead of just having the protagonist reaching out an arm as is so common. Heck, there's even an animation where one of the protagonists changes clothes and I couldn't help but be stunned. It often occurred to me that this should have been a Sunday morning cartoon. I would have loved this as a child. The backgrounds are wonderfully detailed and fantastically drawn. Unfortunately, in some locations you only stay for a short time, so the effort sometimes seems almost wasted. I'm looking in your direction epic castle. If you like Lovecraft's stories and humour, this is definitely a game for you. The only two shortcomings I noticed (besides the short visited areas) are the relatively short game length and the very simple puzzles. Whereby a shoutout to the Pentagram puzzle in Paris. That was fantastic. With most of the other puzzles, you usually just breeze through them. However, as I said, the art style, the atmosphere and the story are definitely worth it.
