4/5 ★ – philip_acquaro's review of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Started: April 1st 2025 Beaten: April 11th 2025 I played through the majority of this during covid in 2020 but for some reason I just completely forgot to finish it. My friend recently got jedi survivor and after watching him play it when he would share screen, it convinced me to go back and finally replay through this from start to finish which I did! I honestly could’ve played the whole game within a week but I caught a really bad flu and took a break from games for a good bit this month. Anyway, the game is really great! It’s a combination of Uncharted (in terms of parkouring/wall platforming and set pieces) and Soulslikes (in terms of combat) with Star Wars theming which makes for an insanely good product as a whole. Genuinely a Soulslike combat driven Star Wars game is a perfect match made in heaven and all of the other set pieces and parkour elements are just the icing on a really well cooked cake. Love that they include lots of tracks from the Star Wars films too it really makes you feel like you’re apart of this world. Speaking of, all of these planets are designed beautifully, each setting is so distinct, really colorful, and full of many different paths that can take you to many secrets, enemies to take down, or other things that reveal background on the plot. My favorite part of the game has to be all of the different styles of light saber combat that you can pull off with the single blade, 2 sided saber, and with many of the upgrades that you can purchase with skill points it adds for so much variety to the system that never tires the gameplay loop. Only really bad problem I had with this game was that it still has lots of bugs. It very frequently has to load textures as you’re progressing through planets, enemies will t pose in the distance, it sometimes stutters freezing to load the further area, and at times B-D the droid that heals you when called to heal will just not heal you. Like the dialogue plays, he says “B-D a little help!” and there would be no heals. This is with the ps4 version running on ps5 at least. Not sure if the PS5 version of the game is patched but if so, I suppose that’s my fault for playing the wrong version of the game. That’s about my only issue though. I won’t spoil it in case you haven’t tried this out but the ending is also insanely cool. I really want to get around to Survivor one of these days once I’m able to buy it!
