4.5/5 ★ – pixelsaturn's review of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Second time round on this one, and overall I loved it way more than the first. First time around I felt like it was a little too similar to its predecessor, but after letting go of that and just letting myself get properly invested in this story and these characters, I enjoyed it a whole lot more.
Miles is my Spider-Man. Peter is the original, obviously, and I love the first game to bits, but there’s something about Miles and the characters that surround him that resonate with me more. And while the first game was about fan-service (in a good way) and telling a compelling Spider-Man story, I feel like Spider-Man Miles Morales takes more of a close look at the Miles Morales part, which I love. I think his relationship with Phin and the way their story ends is absolute comic book gold and I can’t believe I took that ending for granted the first time around. Rio Morales, too, is a great character and I think the mother-son dynamic is so special and really helps Miles’ world to feel real to the player. Ganke, the Danikast, Prowler and even Krieger (even though I think he’s the weakest character of the bunch) are all brilliant as well. Miles’ relationship with his Uncle is a HUGE part of his character and I think to say they nailed that element here would be a huge understatement.
“That’s OUR Spider-Man.”
Welcome to the comfort game club, Miles.
