4/5 ★ – pixelsaturn's review of Spec Ops: The Line.

Time to beat: 5 hours Platform: PC (GOG) Wow, I've been hearing about this game for years and I've gotta say it lived up to the things I've been told. It's dark, morally grey and very well written and crafted in general. Seriously, this game came out in - *googles* 2012?! Some of the landscapes and world design is so gorgeously lit and framed it feels like a AAA game from the last 2 years. I personally found it a little too hard just on Normal difficulty because I suck at 3rd person shooters (as much as I love them) and to be honest, my main complaint for this game would be the gameplay. Sure, it's pretty short so it doesn't REALLY give itself enough time to get stale... but I think if this was any longer the structure and mechanics of it all would get super stale. There's not a tonne of variation, most levels are just shoot your way through and pick up weapons in a desperate scramble for ammo. Which, again, is fine for the 5 hour runtime that it ended up being, but I started to feel the drag in the last hour. Luckily each section isn't that long and is always bookended by fantastic cutscenes - some of which will stick with me for a LONG time.
