4.5/5 ★ – puedrogaiteiro's review of Code Vein.

Okay so this is a wild one: It's the first souls game I beat and yes I wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for my companions. I don't have the kind of time to spend on a game to become perfect so that made the experience much better for me. The soundtrack is epic, dark and overall a masterpiece. The gameplay is satisfying and gives you a lot of space to play around and make some different builds according to the way you want to fight. I started as a one hand sword weilder into a heavy weapon smash machine into a full casting spell wizard into a one handed sword dodge machine again: The bloodcodes are amazing. I'm not a fan of the parry mechanics, it revolves more around predicting than reacting which is just a matter of taste kind of opinion. The camera got janky sometimes making it really hard to see what was going on. Now about the plot and story: I skipped everything since the moment I saw Yakumo looking at an Onigiri reflecting about how much he missed his friends or whatever. I understand the game is very anime style but that bored the living hell out of me so now that I beat the game I'm gonna have a look at some youtube videos where the plot is explained without all the friendship power and cliche stuff. Looking at the game in general, the scenario is awesome, gameplay is smooth and rewarding, the characters are developed - you actually get to know them and what they've been through and it really is a great experience that is 100% worth it. If you get into this game, it will be your second world/life for a while :)
