5/5 ★ – pumpkinsoup's review of Zero Escape: The Nonary Games.
A quick spoiler-free review of both 999 and Virtue's Last Reward (aka the two games included in Zero Escape: The Nonary Games):
The way I convinced my friend to play Zero Escape was by explaining how to calculate digital roots on a white board like that Charlie Day conspiracy theory meme. And that basically sums up the vibes of these games.
I definitely prefer 999 over VLR, but both are amazing experiences. It's hard to explain what exactly it is about these games I love without spoiling anything, but please give them a try if you like psychological thrillers, escape rooms, going down wikipedia rabbit holes, and/or the number 9.
If you're going to play Zero Escape, please refrain from looking up anything about it until you're done with both 999 and Virtue's Last Reward (and Zero Time Dilemma if you plan on playing that). You'd be surprised how easy it is to get spoiled for stuff with this game.
In conclusion: this game's got a funyarinpa, 10/10
