As a player for over 7 years, I can’t recommend this game more at its core. It’s super unique and has such a fun learning curve to climb. There are plenty of ways to customize your car and you gain rewards just by playing the game (a novel concept). My grievances come mostly from what became of the game after Epic took hold of it and made it F2P. Crates were awful and I do not support gambling in games, but their solution to the problem to make up for the profit loss was to make any customization item that wasn’t legacy $20+ AFTER you obtain it by luck from a random drop after a game. On top of that they have constantly expiring battle passes that give you themed rewards (the better option) that pressures you to play way too much to get anything from it before it expires and your money is wasted. Additionally there is a STORE where you can spend even more money to get items directly on a rotation with eSports items requiring their own currency separate from the normal premium currency. They made casual fun modes with power ups and such have ranks on them with no option for casual play. Overall anything Psyonix has done to this game post-Epic has been detrimental. It makes it hard to come back to sometimes. It’s a fantastic game, but anything besides the core is rotted.
