A short but fun rhythm game with an enjoyable style but can feel a bit lacking.
The game has one main mode a local multiplayer mode and training which is essentially custom match.
The main mode (Championship) is stage based where you battle against team of 4 each with their own techno like soundtrack unique to the characters. It has 3 leagues that change the difficulty of the stages.
As you play you will unlock powers that vary depending on what mascot you pick which can be used to interfere with your opponents score and combo they however will also have similar powers that can be used against you. This can spice up the gameplay a bit and add a bit of variety to each stage.
The gameplay is simple as its mainly just timing a button press to match with a shrinking ring around one of the 4 characters with an occasional button hold or moving the left stick however as you reach the more difficult stages the speed increases with how fast the rings form and shrink so even if the 1st league is too easy which you have to play to unlock the next league eventually you will reach a point where it will test you.
I don’t usually play rhythm games but even with the lack of extra modes in the game I had fun with this one.
Pros:
. Great and unique soundtrack for each character
. Power ups help keep it fresh
. Fun character styles that feel unique including the parodies
Cons:
. felt a bit lacking with just one mode
. rings can be hard to keep up with on a bigger screen
