5/5 ★ – russellbrackins's review of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition.

The length and pace of this game was JUST ABOUT approaching a point where I was going to have to start docking points. But then it ends. And what a journey it’s been. I rolled credits on the Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch. From all that I’ve read about the QOL improvements the definite edition provides, they were all a welcome change from the original and made the experience that much smoother. The visuals and music were absolutely outstanding. The turn based battle system was a sight for sore eyes for this gamer who cut his teeth in the early 90’s. The characters are eclectic and lovable, all in their own way. I probably could have stood to utilize some of the Draconian settings, because the game never felt OVERLY difficult, although there were a small handful of bosses that put me through the ringer a few times. Overall, I loved the time I spent with DQ11. I will definitely check out what the end game has to offer at some point, and I will certainly be on board for DQ12!
