4/5 ★ – sheldoman's review of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

This was one of my favourite PS3 games when I first got my system and I played the remastered version recently. Still mostly holds up. I love the characters in this game. Drake is fun. Elena is great. Sully is solid. The villains are cool. The twist halfway through really works for this first game. I like the setting. I had fun with the gameplay mostly... But it gets really repetitive. Walk and talk, climb, puzzle, shoot, shoot, run, shoot, run, repeat. The shooting scenes can be fun and using different strategies to be hard sections is fun for me, but at a certain point it starts to feel like there's just too much of the same thing. And sending 3 or 4 waves of 5-10 enemies always feels like a weird choice. Like the first wave is a challenge, the second wave might surprise you because you'll be in a weird location or whatever and have to find cover, but then after that it just feels like they're padding out the game. I think as far as gameplay and graphics go this is the weakest of the series, but the story and characters more than make up for it and I honestly have a lot more fond feelings for this one than for the others that I've played.
