5/5 ★ – simplygamin's review of Project Zomboid.

Time Played: 108 hours Status: Beaten (kinda) Project Zomboid is the best zombie game i’ve played. With so many other zombie games relying on special infected to make their zombies interesting, it’s great to see a game revert back and focus on the classic zombie archetype. Hoards of zombies are actually scary as your character isn’t a genetic zombie murder as other games make you. While this sounds boring (which sometimes it is) it makes for a fun game that constantly has you thinking if engaging is the right choice or not. This is one of the only games where the “make your own story” tagline actually works. There is countless experiences and scenarios that arose from my play through with my friends. From having to raid downtown Riverside to get meds for our infected friend to exploring Rosewood finding vinyls and cassettes to play music on the radio, every experience felt as if it was our own because it was. The game never told us to raid those places, we did it because we decided that we should. In my many years of playing games this is one of the many few where I felt in control of the game and it was great. I will say however the game does suffer from its UI and graphics as it takes a while to get used to. The hit detection can be a bit shoddy at once and end up in your character getting bitten (which has happen to me a lot lol) Some skills are way more fleshed out than others. For example, construction is a must if you are playing on living longer than a couple of weeks as it allows you a solid water source. Compared to First Aid that is pretty useless overall.
