5/5 ★ – steamFunke's review of Citizen Sleeper.

Citizen Sleeper is such a fantastic take on a visual novel/tabletop RPG. Its vibe is fantastic, exploring a space station on the brink of collapse, making bonds with the characters you meet along your journey. I only got this game because of the art, but I quickly and deeply fell in love with its vibe. Just sitting on the station, listening to the stunning ambient soundtrack of space station noises, light synths and snares, looking at the busy-ness of the station as it spins through space. The story is beautiful as well. It explores the journey of you, a sleeper drone (a robot with a human consciousness slapped inside) with a case of the "I fall apart every week unless I take my wonder drugs". this quickly means you need to find a friend who can help you before you inevitably get absolutely dunked on by your higher ups. The main gameplay loop is as follows: -Get up. -Look at your dice rolls. -Decide when and where you want to use them. -Read the beautifully handwritten story unfolding in front of you and look at the amazing character art. -Make connections with characters, complete tasks and try not to die. -Repeat. This gameplay loop had me hooked from the get go. while I can't preach its replayability, I know for sure that your first run through is a memorable one, and this will always remain a favourite of mine.
