5/5 ★ – stolenartvalor's review of Sonic Adventure 2.

I've been thinking of the right words to use for this review for a while since I want to do this game the absolute justice it deserves but it's been nothing but difficult to pinpoint what words I want to use. It's not very common a game can leave you speechless like this but I'm glad out of all the games out there, this is the one for me. I love this game, it's quite simply my favorite game of all time, it's possible that it could've been me spending countless all-nighters playing the game non-stop over the span of a week during one of my favorite summers and my feelings from that are clouding what I feel, but I feel it goes quite deeper than that. I love its design, the way it plays, the levels, the characters, the art used throughout the entire game, even to the simple menu. It all culminates into something quite beautiful, but definitely has its flaws. The main one I want to mention, and the most specific, is the battle with King Boom Boo, I'm not sure what it was about this battle but it was almost impossible to complete without some "assistance", it's possible that it was a problem on my end since I was playing on an emulator and this was my first Sonic game or the boss is just difficult for no reason while everything else was much better. I would love to take a shot at this game again though since I'm better at games, would be interesting to see if I'm better, I'm getting sidetracked, anyways, I also found some stage designs to be hard where I had to repeat levels constantly, and in some cases very specific parts of the level. Outside of that though, there's not any other negatives I can think of, I wouldn't even consider the cut-scenes and the voice acting to be bad because I think they add a lot to this game and gives it a unique identity. I'm not sure how much longer I can gush over this game without repeating myself so I'm gonna stop myself here. I'm glad this was my first 3D Sonic game, I'm glad I played this when I did as well as that made me want to explore a whole new world I never even considered exploring before that year, and I can never thank this game enough for that. I have so much for this game to be thankful for, but more importantly my love for games, although it's a very small selection and it being only Sega games, it still opened a few worlds for me I love dearly and could never go without.
