4/5 ★ – summercomet's review of BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode 1.
Short and sweet with a lot of Bioshock 1 and 2 nostalgia. I really liked playing this one since it was literally a "What If" for an alternate route for Bioshock 3 still being set in Rapture. The story was definitely the highlight since it decided to go more into its noir nature with a huge mystery that is carried over from the original game. It felt like a nice set up for what Episode 2 could do and is an overall banger.
Gameplay is more of the same but is DRASTICALLY improved by introduction of one mechanic: weapon wheel. I can't tell you how glad I am that they decided to bring back the weapon wheel so that we could carry more than 2 weapons since it lets us marinate with every gun that the game has to offer which is absolutely fantastic.
My only gripe with it would be how short it is, it's just the length of 2 missions and is relatively linear but still packs a punch with its short runtime. The introduction of the radar sense weapon is also very strange given its short use time but other than those 2 criticisms, Episode 1 literally gives more of the same but in a format that's served on a diamond platter. Excited to see what Episode 2 has to offer.
