3.5/5 ★ – summercomet's review of Crash Bandicoot.

Honestly this game was more difficult than I thought. Gave me a bigger challenge than I expected and I enjoyed the hell out of it. For such an old and aged game, it holds up pretty nicely. Sure there are some nitpicks but the overall game is still very enjoyable and it's spectacular for the time that it released in. The platforming is great, the levels are intricately designed and extremely fun to go through, the enemy variety and obstacles are amazing, the boss fights are fun as hell, and I just love the charm that the game provides, especially with the music. However, as I said, the game suffers from some nitpicky issues. Firstly, the game sometimes screws you over for the hell of it. It likes to trick you which can get very infuriating at times but I understand that it may be a skill issue. Second, some puzzles and checkpoints are straight up unforgiving. If you don't hit a bonus level even though you completed like 4 straight levels, you could get booted 5 levels back. Even if you get the bonus level you would have to complete the level to the end which sometimes sucks to do. Still, I appreciate that the levels aren't ridiculously long and for what it is, it's insanely enjoyable. I know that it can definitely get better.
