3.5/5 ★ – summercomet's review of Ghost Rider.
Marvel DMC styled game starring Ghost Rider is an idea that's absolutely amazing. I had heard bad things about this game but it's actually pretty good. The combat is great and surprisingly complex and there's a huge moveset. The levels are extremely detailed and fun especially the driving levels. Speaking of, the motorcycle levels are a great deal of fun and extremely sick and there's a lot of enemy variety.
However, the combat system is not designed to handle so many enemies at once. The difficulty curve gets stupid once like 4 enemies comes on screen and its difficult to handle the combo meter (needed to attack certain enemies) and trying to dodge 6 dudes attacking consecutively who can instantly break the bar. The concept is amazing but executed extremely poorly and leads to frustrating moments that could've been fixed with better management of enemy placement/indicators. On top of this, the bosses are way too easy to the point where regular enemies are harder which lead to anticlimactic boss fights. Some levels also get reused for backtracking which can be repetitive.
Other than those, Ghost Rider is an extremely fun game if you can fight through those issues and the story's decent enough and plus you get to play as blade which allows me to pretend that the blade game never actually existed and that this is the blade game that should've been made.
