4/5 ★ – tcheloniformis's review of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse.

The combat is perhaps the best SMT has had to offer, taking everything that made SMT IV great and building upon it in small but noticeable ways (ex. Smirking, various changes to move effects, and especially Demon Conversations that have more personality and weight to them). The UI is cleaner as well, which along with the aforementioned aspects makes the overall gameplay quite addicting. This ultimately makes up for its saccharine narrative and characters, which give the impression this game was never really about the core themes of SMT to begin with and more so the experience in-between story events.
