3.5/5 ★ – the_goatlover's review of Assassin's Creed: Origins.

So I am slowly making my way through the Assassin's Creed games, having touched many but never finishing any. I began with 1, and let me say coming into this one after playing 1 was soooo jarring! The parkour system is basically 100% different, and to see the changes so drastically was fun. I have mixed feelings with this game in the sense that I really did like it, but it padded itself out so long that it turned me into disliking it a bit. To explain, the first 12 hours I explored a lot, and enjoyed checking out the sights of Egypt. Seriously an amaaaazing game world. But by hour 30 I was basically only halfway through the story and was getting bored so I blitzed the end. I didn't enjoy the way the game forced you to do side quests so your level was high enough for main quest. (Not that that was really an issue for me, but I do think it is a problem) Bayek was a fantastic character. I really felt his pain and love and struggle. The voice actor was great. But that being said, and hear me out, I am just tired of dad getting revenge stories. It seems to me around this time in the gaming industry every story was MAD DAD gets revenge. Not a huge deal, I am just over that story. Overall great game and I could actually see myself revisiting this a bit only to explore the map more (i love ancient egypt) That was something else, the map started out massive, and then I zoomed out and the map expanded like 20 times bigger. That was insane to see lol. Huuuuge map.
