4.5/5 ★ – thegeekboy's review of Sonic x Shadow Generations.
And finally we have the most recent mainline Sonic games, Shadow Generations. The game is as simple as the title says, it’s literally the shadow version of sonic generation, but with an actual story, unlike the Sonic version. I loved a lot about this game, the story being the main thing, bringing back the dark elements which made the old Sonic games so much fun. It has such an emotional punch at the end which pays off. Loved how clever they got for bringing black Doom, Maria and Gerald. I can’t exactly say I loved the gameplay or the levels, as the only level I loved was Kingdom valley, the rest being aright. Also why was there a frontiers level? The gameplay is fine, it’s sorta similar to the original shadow game, but without the guns unfortunately. The bosses were all amazing though, and they were actually hard. Another thing this game did so well, was connecting it with Sonic generations, absolutely loved that! Overalls i absolutely loved this game, and for the final game as of now, it really brought me back to when Sonic used to be good, in the dark era. I truly can’t wait to see what the mainline franchise has in store, Sonic is so back baby!
