4.5/5 ★ – trudes's review of Resident Evil 2.

Had a friend over for the weekend and we wanted a game to play for a few hours. Well... A few hours turned into 13 and we finished most of the game in 2 days. That alone speaks to the quality of RE2. When we got to the Tyrant stuff we were just hooked, and fucking terrified. Laughed a lot, got jump scared, and put our minds together to solve puzzles. Because my first and only run was Claire, we went Leon. Overall I preferred Claire's run because I prefer her character, but I'm glad I experience Leon's first scenario too. I heard people say they aren't very different but I found the overall experience changed enough to make it worth it. The Ada of it all secured that (even if the romance is absolutely absurd). It was really fun taking turns, and this is a great game to watch someone else play while backseating. I will say it's unforgiving to people not familiar with the survival inventory mechanics. We ended up having to switch to assisted mode because my friend had used all of our health supplies right before the final boss — but while he found this irritating, I explained that I thought it was a core part of the game, and that it's something you come to appreciate.
