4.5/5 ★ – unneededhero's review of SILENT HILL 2.
Easily one of the best remakes I’ve ever played in the recent year. Originally I’ve been a fan of Silent Hill 2 and its other games so once I’ve heard of a remake I was excited. Now after finding out the team behind was Bloober I won’t lie I was scared about the state of the game based of off previous works. However these concerns fell flat as the team did a tremendous job with restoring the original concept of the game and breath fresh life into it. Just like the original game you follow James Sunderland as he goes through the town of Silent Hill in order to find his late wife Mary when he received a mysterious note from her stating to return back to the town. Overall the game is fantastic though my concerns with the game isn’t a concern to most people but rather some. To me personally the game wasn’t as scary as the original. Now I won’t get on my high horse and talk about how good the original is, the point I’m attempting to get across is that with the new rendition of this game the camera is no longer lock to specific angles as the original. As I stated previously this isn’t an issue but to me the horror falls a little flat when you can see the monsters ahead of you. Though to be fair there are some creatures positioned carefully to scare you still but the point still stands. Once again this is an amazing game that you will get your moneys worth out of it.
