4.5/5 ★ – voorgo's review of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

This is my review from the perspective of jumping into both the base game for the first time & the DLC. Put in 44 hours. Absolutely loved it. It’s hard to say why this isn’t a 5 star all-timer for me because I really think Cyberpunk 2077 is something special. Characters are a real standout and it did for me what Witcher 3 did for me. And here’s the weird part; I like the combat, world, and RPG systems better here than I did there. But Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. So what are we doing here?!? I guess maybe I just liked the characters more there and one element missing was the soundtrack. Feels like they didn’t use it well enough here in the right moments. Maybe I’ll never know why. I mean there were misses, like some poor communication on several systems and an obtuse quest giving mechanic. But I haven’t even mentioned my favorite part; the city. I heard someone describe the feeling of Cyberpunk as the closest you can feel to being in VR without being in VR and I couldn’t agree more. The scope of the city is overwhelming and always impressive. I loved living and playing in this world. So there you have it, a confusing and complicated string of thoughts on a complicated game. Overall, I think it’s a must play for anyone who ever thought it was interesting. And who knows, it might just be a game that I need more time to appreciate and look back to become an all-timer!
