4/5 ★ – voorgo's review of Mario Kart World.

Mario Kart World’s base foundation of pitch perfect gameplay, visuals, and music make it really hard for me to not at least give it an 8. But it feels like there are so many tiny tweaks that could make this game the 10 it rightfully should be. Why can my friends not join a public lobby for knockout tour when we go online? Why is there no way to track P missions and Peach medallions in the open world? Why is free roam so limited in local co-op? Why isn’t there a music select? Why is the character select screen an absolute mess? I also don’t love the change to driving between courses. It works in knockout tour but takes away from the fun of regular races. So this is a classic, “I think it’s great but here’s all the reasons it’s not” review. But that’s because I love and care about this and know it could be an easy 10/10. Either way, I’ll still put in many more hours to come over the lifespan of my switch 2. I have a ton of fun anytime I play this, especially with friends on the couch, and that’s ultimately what matters most.
