4/5 ★ – voorgo's review of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardian’s of the Galaxy is a good game, sometimes veering towards a great game, and every so often flailing around as a cringe game.
The story is what brought me through most of my playtime. I think they mostly nailed it. Yes, they understand what it takes to make this team come to life. It “feels” like a really good Guardian’s story. At some points, it was my favorite Gaurdian’s story!
The combat gets better as the game goes on but never quite comes fully together. It got close a couple of times, but there are just a few design choices that hold it back. We can all agree the huddles should be a great part of this game but by the end they might be one of the worst. Overall I didn’t get tired of the combat and I think that’s a good thing cause there’s not a whole lot else to chew on here. The other gameplay elements are aggressively simple. Combat and story are basically all we got here.
EXCEPT the environments, visuals, and art direction. This is a great looking game from start to finish. Probably best looking one I played this year outside of Rift Apart.
I would suggest this to just about anyone!
