5/5 ★ – vr_'s review of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Never in my life have I prepared to play a game The Witcher 3, and with that being said, it had huge expectations to meet I bought all 3 games 4 years back after relentlessly seeing every "greatest game of all time" "Le Hidden Gem meme" etc etc. Since I bought all 3 in a bundle, I decided t ostart from the begining, and man what a wild ride. Witcher 1 was so janky and hard to get through, bnut I've since clocked 90 hours. Witcher 2 to me was one of the best games I've played, I was so enthralled with the world, and honestly loved the open area style, which made me hesitant about Wild Hunt's open world. After beating 1 and 2, I decided to reat all the books, as Geralt had also regained his memory, I wanted to go into the Witcher 3 with his knowledge After burning through 8 books, I felt motivated to re-play 1 and 2 to see what I missed having not known the lore. All said and done I've played 1 twice and 2 four times, needless to say I love those first two, which means This game has huge boots to fill. I finally start playing and I'm worried that th game isn't as good as I hope, my mind isn't blown. A few days pass and I'm still wondering "IS Witcher2 better? Do I like this as much?" I realize that while I'm not mind blown, It's because I went in with unrealistically high expections, and those expectations WERE met. Never in my life have I played so much of a game so quickly, I started on December 14th when the next-gen patch finally dropped. It's now January 31st, and I've clocked 204 hours, making it my 3rd most played game. I have gone through so many dry spells of gaming, giving up on things after looking them up on How Long To Beat as a 7 hour game seemed too long or daunting, but somehow I have felt no burnout or irritation with the amount of time I have put into this. When I think of that fact, it's pretty much impossible for me not to say that For me, specifically, this game is a perfect 5/5.
