2.5/5 ★ – vr_'s review of Wanted: Weapons of Fate.
The first line of dialogue set the tone for the entire game, which is some of the edgiest and eye rolling shit I have heard in a game. Weseley is essentially all the most annoying traits of deadpool wrapped up in a whiney incel. It was pretty entertaining hearing Jimmi Simpson voice him though. Kinda funny, but really fucking annoying.
The cover system has mobile game energy, and the visuals are tainted by the 7th console generation piss filter (almost too literally). Aiming ias atrocious due to forced aim acceleration, however once you can kinda get accustomed to it the gameplay ends up being fine enough and fun enough to see the game to completion. Bending bullets was pretty fun, but a lot of the other mechanics are pretty underbaked. Not as enjoyable as other cover shooters of the time, such as Kane and Lynch 2, at least in Wanted, your bullets almost always went where you aimed (if you could manage to move the reticle to the desired location while battling aim acceleration).
The game however does suffer from my least favorite game trope though, which is human enemies with no armour all of a sudden needing multiple headshots to kill. If you want stronger enemies with that trait, at least put them in armour. Nothing was more annoying than shooting a random dude wearing a hoodie 3 times in the head before he would die in the last mission.
