2.5/5 ★ – ysobh's review of Deadpool.
Apologies in advance for the spelling I didn’t have time to fix it
My intial reaction after finishing Deadpool was opening my mouth and emitting a sound that closely resembles the word what. It is a game that reminds me a lot of dead space 3 (funny how both came out in the same year). Both emphasis a huge problem that was present in the end of the 360 era which was lack of originality and humingization of AAA games. Every game back then had to have a dark and gritty color palette with third person shooting , huge set pieces and an optional cover system. I jad a lot of probleems with the deapool game. First the obvious , it has not aged that well graphically (unlike the previously mentioned game dead space 3) but that can be excused but what can’t be is the horrible frame rate which went down to SINGLE DIGITS during the last level of the game. Over the years a lot of people said that this game was not a good adaptation of the comics which I have to agree with. It is clear that the devs love the character a lot but they emphasised his loud and abnoxuis traits too much. Nolan north kills as usual as the merc with mouth but his performance can’t save the incredibly bad script where things just happen out of nowhere for no apparent reason ( and no the game being self aware doesn’t excuse that). Now that I have gotten the side stuff out of the way let me talk about the important part , the game itself. The game controls well enough for the melee sections but Deadpool has too much weight in my opinion. He doesn’t feel as agile as he should be and it doesn’t help with a combat as simplistic as this but this is nothing compared to the shooting part of the ccombat which let me say made me want to shoot me brains out (which Deadpool actually does in the game) the shooting lacked any sense of weight or anything really. The lock on barely works , aiming feels like you just spilled soap into the joystick and the bullets barely do any ddamage and the enemies don’t give any feedback whatsoever. My main problem with the combat though is that there is no incentive to change weapons or to experiment with multiple playstyles or the skill “tree”. Overall it is a fun a time romp which I would only recommend if you find it really cheap in your local game store.
