3.5/5 ★ – yungpaddywan's review of Curse of the Dead Gods.

Be warned mortal, Curse Of The Dead Gods is going to put you through your paces. A mostly close quarters focused action-roguelite, this game gives very little in terms of storytelling, and that is more than okay. There is enough here between weapons, abilities, and other in-game currency based things to keep you too busy to worry about story. Full disclosure, this is my second time with this game and when I got to the final level last time, I decided that it was simply too much. Having come back, I felt it would be okay to play with assist mode on at times, to help expedite the second playthrough. That said, I am glad I am back. Challenging as it is rewarding, this game will appeal to any fan of the roguelite genre. My only real complaint with this one is that it is too difficult. Almost difficult for the sake of being difficult it feels like. Other than that, it's hard to find fault here. The sound design, level design, score, variation on enemy types between each biome, and plethora of available weapons make this game one that is worth checking out. After a grueling 8 or so hours of intense gameplay they even have an additional campaign for you if you like pain that much!
