5/5 ★ – yungpaddywan's review of Heavy Rain.

Heavy Rain is one of those games that you could consider once in a generation in terms of its lasting impact on video games. Indigo Prophecy would likely be targeted as the strongest influence on Heavy Rain, and while I haven’t played it, I can only assume Heavy Rain was the true catalyst for strengthening the foothold of the narrative driven game complete with QuickTime events. The story it tells is just so compelling, with a true care for the creation of each character and their story. The player is driven to truly care about them and carefully consider how each choice they make will impact them. The writers of this one threw me for a complete loop, I couldn’t have seen the ending coming if I tried. Finding out the killers motivations and who the killer was, was immensely satisfying. The voice acting is a little poor at times, and the graphical fidelity while somewhat realistic, definitely shows its 2010. The absolute worst thing is some of the controls, the game asks you to push buttons that just are not meant to be pushed together. Despite this, Heavy Rain is a rare case where I could see myself replaying this title one day. One of the greatest games of all time, period.
