4.5/5 ★ – zappinzues's review of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

I'll start by saying that this is a great game. The game generally does a great job of masquerading the original games turn based system as an action RPG. It also generally does a good job of making a fairly linear game feel much more open and vast than it really is. The key word is "generally." There are moments where you can see the seams and they can be frustrating. In my experience, these felt ike small speed bumps that had to be overcome. Fortunately, the reward for doing so was worth the hassle. Square Enix has a solid foundation now after years of development hell, so I'm excited to see how they refine and move the story forward. Oh, and the music is 🔥
